RELEASE: Texas State Rep. Trey Wharton Appointed to House Select Committee on Health Care Affordability

AUSTIN, TX — State Representative Trey Wharton has been appointed by Speaker Dustin Burrows to
serve on the newly created House Select Committee on Health Care Affordability.

The committee will take a comprehensive look at the drivers of rising health care costs in Texas and
develop solutions to improve affordability while maintaining access to quality care.

“I am honored to be appointed to the House Select Committee on Health Care Affordability,” said Rep.
Wharton. “Access to affordable, high-quality health care is one of the most important issues facing
Texans today. This committee will play a critical role in identifying practical, responsible solutions that
lower costs, increase transparency, and strengthen our health care system.”

The committee will examine cost drivers, insurance market dynamics, and barriers to coverage, while
identifying practical, results-driven solutions for patients, families, and employers.

“Following a highly productive legislative session, I look forward to continuing this important work and
building on our progress to deliver meaningful results for Texans,” Wharton added.

The Select Committee on Health Care Affordability will report its findings ahead of the 90th Texas
Legislature.
