HUNTSVILLE, TX — State Representative Trey Wharton announced today that he will seek
reelection to the Texas House, continuing his service to the people of House District 12, which
includes Brazos (partial), Grimes, Madison, Robertson, Walker, and Washington counties.
“This session, we focused on real issues impacting Texas families—and we got results,” said
Rep. Wharton. “From historic property tax relief to major investments in our schools, water
infrastructure, and border security, we advanced a conservative agenda that puts Texans first.”
During the 89th Legislative Session, Rep. Wharton supported:
● $51 billion in property tax relief, including an increased homestead exemption for
homeowners, seniors, and disabled Texans.
● The largest public education package in state history, with $8.5 billion invested in teacher
pay raises, school safety, and classroom funding.
● A new statewide water fund, ensuring long-term access to reliable water infrastructure
across Texas.
● Over $3 billion for border security, along with legislation empowering law enforcement to
crack down on illegal immigration and human trafficking.
● HB 2217: Operation Safe Shield, Wharton’s own bill establishing a grant program to
equip law enforcement vehicles with ballistic protection.
Wharton also supported legislation to cut red tape for Texas businesses, protect parental rights
in education, and strengthen Texas’ energy grid and independence. “We made serious
progress, but our work isn’t done,” Wharton said. “I’m running for reelection to keep delivering
conservative wins—defending our values, protecting our communities, and securing a stronger
future for Texas.”
